2022 Giro d’Italia - Rest Day Aperol Spritz.
Today is the last rest day of the 2022 Giro d’Italia. While I gave you my “Near”politan pizza making video last week, this is much, much easier and a very easy way to unwind. Aperol Spritzes are ubiquitous throughout Italy, and what’s not to love about it on a hot day? Bubbly prosecco on ice mixed with orange-flavored Aperol aperitivo, followed by a splash of effervescent mineral water. Garnish with an orange slice, maybe a sprig of rosemary, say cin-cin (chin chin) while you cheers your friend, and you’re done. That’s it. That’s the post. Well, there’s also a funny/mildly concerning story about a cyclist who shot himself in the eye with a cork and was forced to withdraw from this year’s Giro after making Giro history…so for that, head on over to my NEW YouTube Channel! Something was wonky on Instagram today, so I guess that's a good enough reason to start a YouTube Channel.
How relaxed am I? I'm wearing my linen threads that I picked up on the Isle of Capri! Salute!
Aperol Spritz
Most recipes for this spritzer call for equal parts prosecco to Aperol. I prefer more like 2 parts prosecco to 1 part Aperol.
Bottle of your favorite prosecco (Italian bubbly)
Aperol Apéritif
Sparkling water or club soda
Orange slices
Fill a large glass with ice. Pour in the prosecco until it reaches the top. As it dissipates, add in some Aperol, followed by a dash of sparkling mineral water or club soda.
Take your orange slice and rub on the rim of the glass, then garnish with the orange slice or dump it right into the drink. Drink and relax!
