Like most chefs and cooks I first learned about, I found Steven Raichlen on PBS, grilling up a storm at The Greenbrier Resort. He's had several shows on PBS: Barbecue University, Primal Grill, Project Smoke, and Project Fire. When I got older, and moved into my first home where I could also purchase my first real grill, I picked-up a copy of his Barbecue Bible. I then followed that with Planet Barbecue.
For a grill master, he is very soft spoken. He is fanatical about grilling and proper technique (likely originating from his Le Cordon Bleu training in France), and his recipes never disappoint.
I love Planet Barbecue as it features various recipes, grills, and cooking methods from around the world. Summer is the perfect time for grilling. Pick-up a copy of his books. You will not be disappointed!
